Cilcain Village Hall (post code for sat. Nav. users: CH7 5NN). The village hall can be booked for functions, parties etc. for which tables and chairs are available. There are also kitchen facilities. There are two main rooms. The larger room can accommodate between 80 and 100 people (depending on seating requirements) and has a stage. The smaller room, known as the committee room, accommodates about 20. Rates vary depending on proposed usage, but they won't break the bank! Activities in the Village Hall include: The hall is currently host to Youth organisations: to the Young Farmers and the Flintshire Summer Holiday Playscheme. Leisure activities: the Craft group, Yoga, Zumba, Kettlercise, Yoga and Meditation weekends and Drama Groups. School and community activities: in addition to the weekly community cafe, we welcome the Women’s Institute, and the Coffee Group on Thursdays Musical Events: Cor Cilcain Choir Social Evenings, Jazz and Music events for charity, Barn Dances, the Gwyl Young People’s Music events, and Muddy Boots, our resident Band: we are also a venue for Rock events, (especially memorable evenings with the Village’s own group, the Turbo Snails). Learning, Arts and craft activities: From September we will be hosting Welsh Classes organised by Deeside College (Llanllawen comes home to Cilcain): possibly North Wales’s most abstruse Reading Group – the ‘All of Proust in a Year’ Group: the Craft group, Beekeeping Weekends, the Village Show Art and Photographic Exhibitions (on August Bank Holiday each year). Village Entertainments: Plays, the Pantomime and the Harvest Supper. Local democracy: The Community Council meets here, as do local Farmers’ groups and the Fly Fishers Association. Local voting takes place in the Hall.It is also the venue for visitors from the wider community enjoying local walking, cycling and outdoor pursuits: Long distance walking groups, and Hill Runners. Cilcain hosts its famous Mountain Race at the Village Show on August Bank holiday, the “Open To Offas’ event, and the NEWSAR hill race.
